Can my address number fit on one of your address signs?
We get this question often, and the short answer is almost always "yes." However, there are many factors that we want to consider when making your sign to make sure it looks the best it can!
We customize each address sign to meet your needs. We do not use any numbers or text that are fixed in size. Instead, we size your address number or text to best fit the sign you choose.
We have several different address sign models available, and we can work with different character limits for each model of sign. Having said that, most addresses or street names can fit on just about any of our signs. The only catch here will be how much we may have to adjust the size of the numbers or text on your sign to fit your address number.
For example, if your address number is "54863," we will not need to reduce the height of your address numbers to fit on any of our signs. We will size your address number to perfectly fit the maximum height supported by the sign you choose, and the numbers will look great!
However, let's imagine that your address number is substantially longer. If your address number is "54863 W 115th SW," then we need to look at how we size your address numbers and text to fit on your sign without looking stretched or too thin. If we tried to make that the same height and width as the previous address number, then the numbers would look bad and be difficult to read.
For an address number like this, the very best bet would be one of our models that comes with a name rider. For example, the famous Boardwalk Reflective Address Sign with Custom Name Rider would work perfectly! We would simply put "54863" on the main Boardwalk address bracket space and "W 115th SW" on the name rider. The result would be a sign with beautiful, easy to read numbers and text.
What if I need more on the sign itself?
If your address number or other needs require that you need more text on a single address number plate, then we still have many options to work with! Let's go back to the example address number above, "54863 W 115th SW." As I mentioned, we can size this to fit any of our address signs. That said, we will need to reduce the height of the numbers and text on your sign to fit the space.
One of the ways you can make up for this reduction is by choosing one of our larger sign models. Some of these models include our Boardwalk XL, the Extra Large Contemporary, and our Magnolia Address Sign. Each of these signs is designed to hold numbers that are six inches in height for an average length address number, so there will be plenty of space to work with. Though we may have to reduce the height of your address numbers by a little bit, the height of the numbers and text should still be easy to read from a long distance.
The next best bet would be either our Oak model, the Rose model, the Excalibur model, or the Orleans model. Each of these signs has a medium-sized number space, allowing 4.25-inch-tall numbers for most standard-length addresses. When using one of these sign models for a longer address number, we should still have enough space to keep the height of your text clearly visible and easy to read.
What about the other options?
Like I mentioned above, we can size your numbers and text to fit just about any of our signs. This means we can make the Boardwalk, Park Place, Annandale, or other signs work in this situation as well. However, a long address number like our example would be more difficult to read on one of these signs due to the reduction in text size. If maximum visibility is critical for your sign, then it would be better to look at one of the other options above.
